In 2011, Zurvita entered the health and wellness arena, with the unique proposition of Zeal for Life, a clean nutritional powdered drink featuring stabilized rice bran and gamma oryzanol. “We decided to make a significant impact on people from all walks of life by offering clean, nature-based products and life-changing opportunities, where anyone can succeed,” recalled Jay Shafer, Zurvita’s Founder and CEO.

These incredible benefits began generating incredible results. Zurvita consultants loved the product and so did their customers. And just like that, Zurvita had found a way to help people win.

The Game Changer

With health and wellness being an extremely crowded space. Through extensive research and clinical trials, they found product differentiation through the incredible health benefits of a surprising ingredient: stabilized rice bran. And through its proprietary and delicious formula, Zeal for Life was birthed.

“When rice bran is amended with the key functional compound gamma oryzanol, the combination offers diverse benefits and supports the body in a variety of ways,” explained Scott. “This includes overall cardiovascular health, cholesterol management, immune function, antioxidant activity, blood glucose control and weight management. Globally, it’s estimated that 10 percent of the world’s population—about 828 million people—go to bed on an empty stomach each night. “Our goal is to provide one million meals to hungry families,” said Jay. “To reach this goal, we’ve partnered with SERV International. Through this program we donate three meals for every Zeal canister sold, and in May we added Zundora and Zurge as giveback products as well. Zeal for Meals is our effort to give back to the community—locally and globally—by fighting hunger and providing other life-giving services to those in need.”

Zeal for Meals is dedicated to bringing hope and healing to communities like Turkana, Kenya. As a pastoral community, they depend on rain to keep their livestock alive, but a five-year drought has caused dehydration, starvation and death. “Our teams recently went to Turkana. We brought food, shelter, medical help and the word of God to the locals,” explained Jay. “We were able to give them hope. Our entire Zurvita family made it possible. To date, Zurvita has provided over 900,000 meals to communities in need and is inching closer to their million-meal goal.

Zurvita, through the sale of its Zeal for Life all-in-one nutritional drink mix, is donating three meals for every canister sold to families in need. By funding nonprofit SERV International, the Zurvita Zeal for Meals Program philanthropic initiative helps provides food, shelter and medical help for those in need. 

Specifically, Zurvita’s donations have provided 30,000 meals to a village in Northern Kenya and helped 500 people and 200 families displaced by the war in Ukraine. 

As of the start of 2023, Zurvita is now more than halfway to its goal of donating one million meals to families who are food insecure. To date, the company has provided more than 540,000 meals. 

“Our Mission at Zurvita is to change lives in an easily accessible way,” said Jay Shafer, Zurvita Founder and CEO. “That means through award-winning all-natural products that help families live their healthiest, most vibrant lives, and our outreach programs. The Zeal for Meals Program has had a tremendous impact. Zurvita Giving, the philanthropic arm of Zurvita, with the help of thousands of Zurvita distributors, raised $70,000 to help build a home for a family who fled Africa as refugees. More than 100 Zurvita distributors volunteered to build the home in partnership with Habitat for Humanity in Houston.  

The home benefits Niyibitanga and Nsaguye, who arrived in the U.S. several years ago with their five children and Niyibitanga’s parents and brother. The couple’s 17-year-old son Jean Claude described the new home as “very exciting” because the family had always lived in apartments.  

“I am so proud of our Zurvita family coming together to provide this safe and comfortable home for a family in need,” said Jay Shafer, CEO and Founder of Zurvita. “As a company, we strive to help families feel and live their best every day, and we hope we’ve aided Niyibitanga and Nsaguye in that same way through this initiative.”

What the Ranking Means

It is worth repeating that the Digital Momentum Index only compares single period/monthly changes (vs. year-to-date or a trailing month timeline), and so it is not uncommon to see a single member company make leaps or appear/disappear each month. A company who achieved +25 percent growth last month would have to continue growth atop that to maintain their rank. The index is intended to be a measure of “who saw significant social media growth in the last 30 days” rather than a long time leaderboard.

Our Efforts for Continuous Improvement & Accuracy

The amount of data available on Social Media and SOE / Web Traffic is both vast and ever changing, and we’re learning more about it every month. We launched the Rankings in Q4 2020 with intent to learn and collect feedback for a stable method in 2021, and we continue to learn and collect feedback. February rankings were calculated with the same data and weighting as January 2021 and December 2020, and we will make and announce any adjustments to the methodology quarterly.

Components

The list represents months of analysis across the three core pillars of social media marketing: web traffic & SEO analysis, Facebook activity, and Instagram activity.

Eligibility

A company is included in the Transformation Capital Direct Selling Momentum ranking when it has an active website, at least one active social media account, and at least 50,000 followers or fans for a single account (Facebook or Instagram).

As noted, our initial ranking methodology focuses exclusively on three primary drivers of online presence: web traffic, Facebook activity, and Instagram activity. We’ve aggregated roughly a dozen metrics from these three sources and assessed their change over the last thirty days in an attempt to measure the growth in a company’s online audience, or momentum.

A brief explanation of our proprietary methodology follows:

Web Traffic & SEO

We analyze basic web traffic statistics as a measure of general interest. These statistics seek to measure the number of individuals searching for, visiting, and clicking on links that direct them to the company’s domain. This domain includes the corporate website and (in most cases) the company hosted web pages for individual distributors. Additionally we analyze the number of third party sources referring internet users to the company website, as well as the number of associated keywords, branded phrases, or marketing jargon (hashtags, slogans, etc.) that are popular across the web. Assessing the change in these metrics over time creates an estimated increase or decrease in demand for the company across the web.

Facebook Activity

We gather a collection of metrics intended to measure thirty-day changes in both volume (count) and quality (engagement & communication with) of followers. Assessing the change in behavior on Facebook, we believe, is a valuable tool in determining improvements (or declines) of a brand’s social value.

Instagram Activity

As with Facebook, we focus on the thirty-day change of our metrics as a measure of social attention, or momentum, assuming a significant change in attention indicates changes in social interest and brand awareness.

A Note on Facebook vs. Instagram

Given varying target markets and consumer profiles, companies seem to often focus on Facebook or Instagram, rather than both. To ensure appropriate credit is given to the correct outlet, our metric analysis and momentum calculation consider which platform appears to be the primary for each company. As an example, if a company has 20,000 Instagram followers and 80,000 Facebook fans, all Facebook-related metrics will be weighted at 80 percent(80/100) of the total weighted social media metric score. Similarly, all Instagram-related metrics will be weighted 20 percent. Few companies do not have an active official Instagram account, and so their social media metric is based 100 percent on Facebook performance and changes. There are no companies in the list for which an official Facebook profile does not exist.

Zurvita announced that global business strategist, Gordon Hester, has joined the company as Chief Innovation Officer to help evolve the business and will be the key to leading Zurvita’s strategic direction.

Hester comes to Zurvita with over 30 years in the direct selling industry. According to Zurvita’s press release, Hester has experience in leading over $10 billion in sales and 100,000 active reps, executing business in over 30 countries and earning commissions in excess of $100 million will be key to push Zurvita into the future of direct selling.

“We are very excited about the addition of Gordon Hester to the Zurvita Management Team,” said Zurvita CEO, Jay Shafer. “His heart and passion for the direct selling industry and his desire to help people and companies become better is a perfect fit for Zurvita. His proven track record and desire to be a change agent in this space will benefit Zurvita Consultants and Customers for years to come.”

Hester also commented that he knew Zurvita was the right step in his new direction of change. “I knew in order to execute change, I would need to find the right company to help evolve from a proven company to a next generation company that would be the envy of the industry,” Hester said. “I was not looking for a company that was broken but instead a company that had strong culture and leadership. I needed to find a company that was willing to change and was aligned with the right business philosophy to build a next generation business.”

As Chief Innovation Officer, Hester plans to modernize the company to improve retention and increase acquisition by focusing on relationship building and engagement. Technology will play a big role in the modernization plans for  Zurvita with the unveil of a new e-commerce website, back office experience and lead generation programs that will enhance Customer overall experience and simplify shopping.

Zurvita, a premier health and wellness company, recently announced that Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson will become the company’s national spokesperson.

“It’s a blessing; it’s great,” said Watson. “Everything that they believe in, everything they stand for, is the definition of how I was raised. I’m glad to be a part of the family.” Watson said.

Watson led the Clemson Tigers to back-to-back appearances in the College Football Playoff National Championship, dethroning the then-undefeated Alabama Crimson Tide in 2016 while also earning Offensive MVP honors.

In the 2017 NFL Draft, Watson was selected as the 12th overall pick. He became the Texans’ primary signal caller midway through the first game of the season, on pace to break rookie records before tearing his ACL. Returning from injury the following season, he led the Texans to an 11-5 record, winning the AFC South, while also earning his first trip to the Pro Bowl.

Watson will represent Zurvita and its new Performance Line, which consists of three specialty nutritional products—FUE1, H2O and R3PAIR—designed to enhance all “bodies in motion.” The Performance Line will be available this fall.
